Yesterday I was feeling pretty ick, so I decided to make some juice from the veggies in the fridge. All we had were beets and carrots, so I juiced those. I threw in the beet greens and a few carrot greens as well. After drinking the juice (only 8oz each for my husband and I) we both felt horribly nauseous, and I actually vomited the whole lot back up about half an hour after drinking it. My stomach continued feeling gross until I wrangled up some Pepto half an hour later.
W!T!F! Why did this make us so sick? I've tossed beets in to juice before and not had any ill effect, but that was just one beet in with a bunch of other veggies. He says maybe the beets and carrots alone without any other veggies was just too rich. Any ideas what happened?
It makes me shudder just thinking about the whole ordeal.
